Why do some Wildgrain sourdough loaves contain yeast?Updated 9 months ago

For a few of our sourdough loaves, we use a little bit of yeast in addition to using a sourdough starter. This creates a more airy crumb, which is helpful for loaves that have inclusions (e.g. dried fruit, nuts, etc.). Loaves with inclusions generally have a more dense crumb, since the inclusions weigh the dough down. So adding a little bit of yeast ensures the crumb remains airy!

Any time this is the case, yeast will be listed in the ingredients. If you'd like to see the ingredient lists and nutrition facts by product, please visit our Nutrition Page.
